“Endo” in Greek stands for “Inside” and “Odont” in Greek stands for “Tooth”. Endodontics is a kind of conservative dentistry in which the dentists try to conserve the teeth in the mouth. It involves various direct and indirect methods to restore the teeth in the mouth. Endodontic as the name suggests treats the soft pulp tissue inside the tooth. An endodontist is a person who specializes in conserving the existing teeth. There are various treatments that are performed at Singh Dental and Implant Center through which the teeth can be conserved either by doing an RCT (Root Canal Treatment), Tooth Filling, Apicectomy.
- Root canal treatment: A root canal treatment is a way to restore a tooth that has decayed badly over the period of time. In a Root Canal Treatment, the pulp and the nerve inside the tooth is removed and the part is cleaned and sealed. If the decayed tooth is left without treatment for a long time then the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and an abscess may form. It is always advisable to see your dentist as soon as you discover even a small problem with your teeth.
- Tooth filling: Tooth filling is a way to restore the tooth damaged by decay. The tooth is restored back to its normal shape and size. When a dentist gives you a tooth filling he/she first removes the decayed part of the tooth, cleans the affected area, and then fills the cleaned out cavity with a filling material. The dentist closes the area with the help of the filling material which also helps in preventing further decay. There are different materials that can be used for the filling mainly: Gold, porcelain, a composite raisin, or an amalgam.
- Apicectomy: Apicectomy involves the removal of the tip of the root of the teeth. It is a minor surgical operation carried out only if the cyst or the infection persists even after carrying out the Root Canal Treatment.
